Oh hell, I forgot about that guy. He needs to up his visibility. Anyway, guess this replacement sub-subgenre name came at the exact right time! MOLESKIN FOLK FTW MOTHERFUCKERS
Damn you for that Motorpsycho song, it was indeed catchy. The only thing that cost it my vote was the fuzzy base tone, never my favorite. And the fact that I've been into Youth Lagoon since your earlier rec, and have already been spending a lot of time with Rarely Do I Dream since it dropped.
Sorry I'm just now replying (I'm dumb). I like fuzz bass, as long as it's not leaned on too hard. I think it sounds cool here--something about the way it pairs with the snare sound. Sadly, I do not possess the musical vocabulary to elaborate further!
Yeah, I have to walk that comment back because now that I think about it there are definitely bands that lean on "fuzzy" base that I like a lot. Maybe something about the production in that one song just didn't click for me? I wish I knew enough about production to be more specific, mostly because it would be awesome to be able to talk intelligently about music.
I will admit, I haven't had time to dig through the last 20 of these newsletters and was about to give up and hit unsubscribe. I opened the email to do so and bam, got hit by unexpected new Youth Lagoon, and now I'm gonna spend this weekend catching up on all of these newsletters I guess. Thank you!
Dude, I so get it. I'm subscribed to a bunch of newsletters that I just flat out never get around to reading. Stuff written by good friends and personal heroes! But my brain just sees blocks of text and says "nope".
Read what you can, when you can, if you feel like it.
(That said, there are some good tunes in those old newsletters, should you find the time!)
Yes, I intend to move it to Ghost. I'm a big tech dummy, so I'm nervous to pull the trigger. But people say it's pretty seamless. I have stuff going on until the end of March, so my plan is to tackle it mid-April.
"Moleskin Folk," holy shit. I have historically referred to this genre as "Canadian Bedroom," so there's that. Might be time for an update.
Sorry, Trump just released an executive order that all idiomatic references to Canada must be stricken.

Fuck you all over again, Finnegan, making me vote for an 11 minute Norwegian lifëmetal song? You're the bringer of light! Jerkfäce!
My sincere apölogies.
'Polish Vodka' by Dr Ring Ding isn't sexy enough of a ska song for you? For shame.
Just looked this up and now I'm mad at you.
hahahahahaha - You're welcome.

Thanks for giving a poop.
I'll dig back, I promise! I still have all the emails.
Everyone loves “Elemental.” Everyone also forgets “Raoul.”
To be fair, Raoul only has a few great songs and a good amount of filler.
Did I hear you were sliding this column over to a different platform or was that someone else?
